The Maine Charity Foundation Fund provides grants for community-based transportation programs that provide transportation and/or delivery services to older people with limited or no access to transportation. Funds may be used to support ongoing operations or to plan and/or implement a new program. Projects in rural areas are a priority.
Additional priorities are projects that:
- Use volunteers and have community partners
- Provide information and connections to assist riders with meeting other needs beyond transportation
- Address inequities and engage a diverse range of community members
- Meet gaps in services or provide service where there is none or not enough currently
- Creatively use existing resources
- Are clearly laid out and ready to implement
Eligible applicants include:
- Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations
- Municipalities
- Public schools
- Public agencies working for the State of Maine
- Tribal governments recognized by the Department of the Interior
- Non-exempt groups with a fiscal sponsor that is a 501(c)(3) organization, public school, or public agency
Up to $10,000.
